Google AdWords continues to innovate their AdWords platform for mobile. Why would they not? This keeps them light years ahead of other advertising platforms (I’m looking at you, MSN) and mobile is the new frontier that needs to be tapped if Google wants to continue to dominate. The latest extension is known as the “Mobile App Extension,” shown below:
It may not look like much, but it can provide a direct link to your iOS or Android app so that web visitors can look at it, read more information and ultimately download it. You can also set up a click-to-download link as well if you want them to go directly to the Apple or Android stores. The possibilities of this are somewhat limited, but can include the following:
- Cost effective promotion and downloads of a hot new app you launched
- Tie ins of a specific app to a promotion you are running
I have yet to see one instance of this app download in the wild, but I would love to see what other creative uses some people have for this new ad extension!
